Natural oils for hair & skin
A simple, chemical-free routine using pure pressed oils for hair and skin — what each oil is good for and how to use them without the grease.

Long before shelves of special products, hair and skin care here ran on a handful of pressed oils. They still work, and they're far simpler than most routines.
Oiling hair
A traditional champi — warming a little oil and massaging it into the scalp — is genuinely relaxing, and the massage itself is part of the benefit. Work it into the scalp and lengths, leave it for an hour or overnight, then wash it out. Use only a little: a few drops warmed between the palms go further than a soaked scalp, and are much easier to wash out.
Oils on skin
Pure pressed oils make simple moisturisers and massage oils. Warm a small amount and apply it to slightly damp skin so it soaks in rather than sitting on top. Patch-test any new oil on your inner arm first, especially if your skin is sensitive.
Keep it honest
- These are grooming and comfort habits, not medical treatments — enjoy them for what they are.
- Buy pure, pressed oil rather than a scented blend full of additives — the difference is explained in cold-pressed vs refined.
- Less is more: greasy isn't the goal.
If you want to cut down a cupboard full of products, a single good oil is a fine place to start — our wood-pressed hair oil is a pure, single-ingredient option.
Frequently asked questions
How long should I leave oil in my hair?
Anywhere from an hour to overnight works. Massage a small amount into the scalp and lengths, leave it to soak in, then wash it out. Using less oil makes it far easier to rinse out afterwards.
